Big thanks to my newest follower, M Shook. I truly appreciate all y'all's readership. Now if I can just get Angie and Kimberly on the ball...
I don't have much news to report. I went to the library and checked out Catcher in the Rye and Sons & Lovers. So those are next up on the list. I know Ann will be ecstatic that I'm finally reading her "boy" J.D. After the library I walked around downtown Frederick a bit, enjoying the sunshine and lunched at Firestone's. I actually like going to restaurants by myself. It says, "Yo, I got no one to eat with, but I'm not letting that stop me from enjoying some good food." That shows confidence because 1. you're comfortable eating alone and 2. you like to eat and don't mind who knows it. I like a girl that likes to eat. And I like a guy who likes a girl for liking to eat (so thanks, Andrew, for enabling my sweet tooth).
When I returned home, I tried to figure out how to print bridal shower invitations on half-sized pieces of paper. I must say, I had it worked out perfectly (I'm kind of a computer whiz, nbd) except the stupid paper was messed up and the last line always got smudged. I know its the paper's fault and not mine because it prints perfectly on regular paper. So hopefully my mom can do it at work tomorrow.
I've been sort of slacking on my MOH duties (sorry, Em). Spring just sort of sprung up on me (haha) and now its happening so soon. But I thrive under pressure and always get my shit done on time. So today, I emailed the other bridesmaid about shoes, sent out an official bachelorette party email listing date and activity, worked up bridal shower invitations and best of all...finalized the "mystery" activity Emily and I will be participating in next week.
A couple months ago, I told her to block four days out from her schedule because we were going to do something. I didn't tell her what; I still haven't. So of course I can't talk about it too much here yet but I will once its over. Let's just say I am an awesome sister/ maid of honor. I will impart this much information however, and let's see if Emily guesses it.
- It is something she has never done before
- It involves a little bit of driving, but will be worth it (I think)
- It is not camping, hiking or bicycling across Iowa (though I should've thought of camping before cause that would've been cheaper)
- It is something we both have wanted to do
I know that's not a lot of info, but I really can't give away too much, because I'd really like to be the one to tell her what we're doing. So, Mike, if you slipped and told her, to quote the Olsen twins, "YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE, MISTER."
I can't wait to tell her what we're doing!

My, oh my, what a month it has been! Since the end of February I have driven to New York three times (three weeks in a row) and North Carolina once. I drove 1600 miles (that's almost from New Market to Denver, CO) in five days and traveled across 17 state lines (not 17 different ones though). I attended three job interviews and one wedding. Andrew came and visited for a full week, and I have worked a bunch of hours. Unfortunately, I have baked no cupcakes.
Yes, it has been a busy month, and for that reason, I have failed in blogging regularly. Here's a bulleted list of important events:
- I did not get the job I first interviewed for. Even though I was perfectly suited for it (I worked for the company before!) and it was my dream job.
- My cousin's wedding was beautiful, held in a barn and had just the cutest little details. It was also nice to see a lot of my family, most of whom I hadn't seen since my other cousin's wedding two and a half years ago. I wore a new dress (I've sort of been on a dress-buying spree lately--there are so many cute ones out this spring!) that was gray with hot pink slingbacks.
- Andrew visited and, even though I had to work more than I have in the past three weeks combined, we had a great time. We saw a movie (Hall Pass--skip it), spent a gorgeous, 77 degree day reading in the park and went out for St. Patrick's Day with Michael and Emily.
- On St. Patrick's Day, Andrew lost a bet to Michael and got slapped in the face.
That's pretty much all of the important stuff. I also finished Lolita and Animal Farm. I did not "like" either. Lolita is pretty much about a pedophile--a man who has always had a thing for "nymphets" or alluring girls between the ages of 10 and 14, who falls in love with Dolores/Lolita (I don't know why she has two names), marries her mother, who is then serendipitously killed, takes custody of Lolita and then spends two years driving around the country sleeping with her. Eventually Lolita runs away, and he takes two more years to find her. When he does, she is married and pregnant, so he gives her some cash and leaves it at that.
I'm not really sure what to make of it. I know its at least partially a commentary on love, but I don't know if it's about the obsessive nature of love, or the line between love and lust, or the rules our society places on love or what. Maybe I'll SparkNotes it and see what they say.
I also finished Animal Farm. It was blessedly short. I liked George Orwell's other great masterpiece, 1984, but this one fell short. I know it's one long allegory, but come on, pigs will never learn to talk, read or write with chalk held in their hooves. I know the talking pigs stand for fascism and all that jazz, but it was annoying. Also, there were absolutely no surprises in the story--it may have been ahead of its time, but I could have predicted the entire story. I know that's more a result of my experience with other works that came after it, rather than the trite nature of Animal Farm but I'm less concerned about writing facts and more concerned with writing opinions--mine, of course.
I am now reading A Room With a View, but haven't gotten very far because since I started reading it, all of the above things have occurred. But its due back at the library this week, so I better get a move on.

Update
So after two posts on my last blog entry begging me to update (by the way, Andrew, I sincerely hope your comment was sarcastic) I am writing a quick update before a hugely busy half-week. So, I started going this marketing thing for Uno's and though I'm not raking in money, it gets me out of serving during the weekdays usually, and I'm learning valuable job skills like networking and such. Unfortunately, today, I have to drive all the way to Reston, VA, for a marketing meeting, so that's no good. Then this weekend is my cousin Megan's wedding, which I am very excited for. It should be a good time, even though my brother is a turd (who doesn't read my blog) and can't come.
In the past couple of weeks, I have been to NYC twice--the first time to visit Andrew, and coincidentally, go to an interview. It seems that every time I plan to go to NY, someone calls me for an interview. So I've been going a lot lately, lol! The interview was at Macmillan, and I really really want the job, because its my dream job, but sadly, that was two weeks ago and I haven't heard an affirmative, so I'm probably filing it under my "Didn't get it, but will never hear back" label. Then, last week, on my way home from New York, I received a phone call from McGraw-Hill (who previously were filed under that label also) asking me to come in for another interview last week. So I scrambled to get up there, and I think it went very well. I am cautiously optimistic.
Also in the past two weeks, I have finished Lolita and moved on to Animal Farm which I also finished. Now I'm reading A Room With A View. I promise I will update the book reviews as soon as I get back from North Carolina.
I apologize that this is neither witty nor very interesting, but sometimes in life, you just gotta state the facts. ; ) A bientot!
